Architectural Door Hardware (ADH)

A Montana-based supplier of doors, frames, and hardware expanded its operations into Wyoming with the goal of establishing a branch headquarters facility in a centrally located city, strategically positioned for efficient service and distribution to regional clientele.

The site, perched on the rim of a valley overlooking the town below, offers prominent freeway frontage - making the building's facade functional as a symbolic "billboard" for the company. The high-visibility location required careful architectural consideration to comply with strict design covenants while maximizing brand presence.

To meet a compressed schedule, a design-build approach was employed, fostering close collaboration among the owner, contractor, and design team. The facility was completed within just 10 months. A pre-engineered metal building system was chosen for its durability and speed of erection. However, to satisfy aesthetic and zoning requirements, the streetfacing elevations were carefully designed to appear as conventionally constructed.

The facade features a mix of architectural metal panel profiles in a consistent color palette, creating a dynamic interplay of shadows as the sun moves across the sky. A complementary, non-traditional masonry wainscot anchors the base and reinforces the sleek, modern character of the building. A standing seam metal roof, rendered in an accent color, visually "caps" the building.

The facility's simple floor plate accommodates administrative offices, a customer showroom, a large warehouse, and a covered loading dock - supporting both the public-facing and logistical functions of the operation with clarity and efficiency.
